A seasoned finance professional with over 20 years of experience in large multinational public and private equity-backed companies as well as a big four accounting firm, Steve Nee is the Chief Accounting and Tax Officer at Indigo.

Incisive analytical skills, solid leadership capabilities and focus on enhancing enterprise value – with a balance in excellent interpersonal and communication abilities – enables Steve to handle the various responsibilities associated with the company’s financial reporting and tax functions.

Most recently, Steve served as the Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Tax Officer and Head of Shared Services at Cengage Learning, assisting in the company’s pivot from traditional print to digital content offerings. This work was preceded by various senior roles at Covidien PLC, a global Fortune 500 organization in the medical device and pharmaceutical space.   During his time at Covidien, Steve was a key member of the Finance organization at the corporate headquarters, spent three years in Zurich, Switzerland as the head of finance for Europe, Middle East & Africa, headed up Internal Audit and was a key member of the integration team as Covidien was acquired in a $50 billion acquisition.

Steve started his career as a Certified Public Accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PWC), leading global multibillion dollar audit engagements as well serving smaller, private equity-backed companies. His status as a respected business partner has emerged from this global breadth of experience, including in strategy development and execution, board advisory and audit committee work, mergers, acquisitions, initial public offerings and business transformations.

Steve received his MBA from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University, and his BS in accounting from Providence College.

Effective and efficient financial processes and systems underscore any successful organization. At Indigo, I want to make sure that framework is in place so that everyone else in the organization — account managers, software developers, microbiologists, agronomists, and so on — can complete their most impactful work. With our best-in-class global team of controllers, managers, staff and specialists, I’m excited to develop and execute on a backing that enables Indigo to thrive for decades to come.
