Indigo Presents 2020 Growth Plans for European Agricultural Sector at AgriTechnica
Switzerland, November 12, 2019 — Indigo Agriculture, a company dedicated to harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet, presents its 2020 growth plans for the European market at AgriTechnica, the world’s largest agricultural technology event. Named the most innovative company in the world by CNBC, Indigo Ag leverages digital technology and natural microbiology to improve grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health. Indigo Ag expanded its global footprint to Europe in September of 2019 with the launch of its European headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
Benefitting from Indigo Ag’s fourth year of U.S. commercial operations, Indigo Europe will provide growers with a set of comprehensive grower offerings and data-driven insights. Already, in its first pilot season within Germany and Turkey, the company has offered European growers digital agronomy and microbiology, specifically Indigo Winter Wheat. In 2020, Indigo will expand its commercial operations within Turkey and Germany, in addition to multiple other countries across Europe.
“Indigo’s offerings are designed to push agriculture into a new era of unbiased, data-driven grower decision-making,” said Karsten Neuffer, Chief Operating Officer for Indigo International. “With access to digital technologies and data-based recommendations, farmers can leverage previously inaccessible information to make key decisions about their operations that prioritize the health of their businesses and their soil.”
Indigo Marketplace, an ecommerce platform that directly connects growers and buyers to transact on grain, will launch first in Germany and Hungary before expanding across Europe over the course of 2020. The program helps growers earn more for their grain by connecting them directly with buyers seeking high-quality, identity-preserved crops.
Simultaneously, Indigo will pilot Indigo Carbon, a program that rewards growers for carbon enriched soil, with European growers. Indigo Carbon promotes the adoption of regenerative growing practices, which have been shown to draw down atmospheric carbon dioxide, improve a farm’s resilience to extreme weather, and reduce input costs. In Indigo Carbon’s first one hundred days, farmers across the United States submitted over 10 million acres to the program, indicating an industry shift toward regenerative growing practices that benefit growers, consumers, and the planet. European growers can express their interest in Indigo Carbon by signing up on the company’s website.
“As a deeply purpose-driven company, Indigo is committed to ensuring the long-term economic and environmental resiliency of farming,” said Georg Goeres, Head of Indigo Europe, who will be presenting the new offerings at AgriTechnica. “The European roll-out of Indigo Carbon and Indigo Marketplace in 2020 represents an opportunity to partner with growers in a market that has long been on the forefront of agricultural practices that improve consumer health and contribute to the regeneration of our lands.”
