Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Intern

We’re excited to add a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Intern to our team! As an FP&A Intern, you will support the FP&A team in analyzing and reporting on the Company’s corporate infrastructure functions, including IT, HR, Facilities, Legal, and other departments. Reporting to the Senior Manager, FP&A, this internship will provide hands-on experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting and strategy to contribute to a fast-paced, mission-driven organization. 

An ideal candidate would be an Undergraduate Senior (Class of 2025) or Rising Senior (Class of 2026), majoring in a field related to Finance, Accounting, or Economics.  

This is a remote, full-time role (40 hours per week) from June 2 to August 22, 2025. For undergraduate students, this is a 3-month internship with the possibility of extension. For recent graduates, this is a temporary position with the potential for extension or transition into a permanent role. An earlier start date may be considered depending on the candidate’s availability. The hourly rate is $20 - $25 per hour.  

What You'll Do

  • Assist in maintaining financial models that evaluate operating costs, capital expenditures, and department-level budgets.
  • Conduct variance analyses and present relevant performance metrics to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the finance team and departmental leads to gather inputs for forecasting and budgeting, including for the annual operating plan and long-range plan
  • Use our financial systems and tools to compile, analyze, and visualize relevant information
  • Participate in projects aimed at optimizing efficiencies in our reporting
  • Develop strong partnerships cross-functionally to gain a deeper understanding of the company 

What to accomplish within the first 30 days:

  • Familiarize themselves with Indigo Ag’s mission, values, and products, as well as understand the company’s organizational structure, especially within the Finance departments and key corporate infrastructure departments
  • Review historical financials reports and budget materials to understand the company’s financial processes and key drivers
  • Gain hands-on exposure to financial systems
  • Build relationships with FP&A team members and key stakeholders within the corporate departments by scheduling introductory meetings
  • Assist in preparing monthly performance reports with guidance of FP&A team members 

What to accomplish within the first 60 days:

  • Develop a stronger grasp of cost centers, departmental budgets, and how they roll up into corporate financials
  • Practice preparing monthly performance reports, highlighting any variances to budget, discrepancies, or trends
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team leads to gather inputs for updated forecasts
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to observe how financial insights drive forecast changes and other decision-making processes.
  • Work on developing or updating financial models 

What to accomplish within the first 90 days:

  • Independently prepare monthly performance reports as well as identify and propose potential forecast changes
  • Meet with cross-functional team leads to present monthly performance results
  • Assist the FP&A team in developing and refining our long-range planning and annual operating plan
  • Identify and propose new ways to enhance reporting, data visualization, and financial transparency 

What You'll Bring

  • Undergraduate Senior (Class of 2025) or Rising Senior (Class of 2026); ideally majoring in a field related to Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills / potential

  • Self-starter and desire to learn and develop skill sets
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable with working with large datasets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
