Director, Carbon Sales

With our first carbon crediting project now approaching megaton scale, Indigo Agriculture is creating the category of large-scale soil carbon CDR through regenerative agriculture. With our carbon projects now delivering at scale, we are excited to welcome a Director, Carbon Sales to oversee our efforts to bring Indigo's high-integrity carbon credits to market. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Policy, Partnerships, & Impact, this is an important customer-facing role with high visibility and compelling prospects for growth within the wider company. The candidate will drive key sales opportunities within Indigo’s carbon credit program, develop carbon sales process and systems, and expand Indigo’s network and contacts among prospective buyers. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) with a strong track record of successfully selling carbon credits. 

This is a remote, full-time position with up to 30% travel required. Candidates located in Boston, MA will have the option for a hybrid, in-office work arrangement.  

What You'll Do

  • Develop, refine, and execute on Indigo’s carbon credit placement strategy

  • Build and maintain a vibrant sales funnel by adding to Indigo’s network and contacts among prospective credit buyers and sales channel partners

  • Independently lead sales, deal structures, and negotiations with individual end buyers and manage opportunities from discovery to close

  • Manage relationships with target customers and channel partners

  • Own full-cycle sales cycle by managing data independently, developing presentations, responding to RFPs and due diligence requests, leveraging other internal resources as needed

  • Drive excellence in data management within carbon demand and refine the carbon sales process and systems 

  • Represent Indigo in the market at conferences, working groups, etc. 

  • Support related projects, including development of internal and external communications, providing thought leadership, monitoring and responding to market developments in the VCM, and development of a broader demand strategy

  • Communicate and coordinate across the Sustainability Solutions business unit 

What You'll Bring

  • At least 8 years of professional experience, in roles of increasing responsibility

  • A thorough understanding of the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) with at least 4 years’ direct sales/commercial experience 

  • Relevant undergraduate degree, masters degree preferred

  • Experience with credit sales, deal structuring and due diligence processes for carbon credit procurement

  • Existing industry contacts from past experience, preferred 

  • Familiarity with the architecture and policy of the VCM, including but not limited to carbon crediting programs, project registries, credit ratings services, advance market commitments (AMCs), relevant standards such as ICVCM and VCMI

  • Experience working in a startup environment, preferred

  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy

  • Demonstrated success of working with a wide array of stakeholders across teams

  • Self-starter mindset

  • Collaborates well with small, fast-paced teams

  • Ability to travel up to 30% for office visits, external events and client meetings 

How We'll Take Care of You

  • Base salary of $175,000 - $190,000 annually

Pay Transparency Statement

Indigo is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all employees. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Benefits Statement

All regular, full-time, permanent employees who work 30 hours or more each week are eligible to enroll in Indigo’s benefits. Additionally, all full-time employees and some parttime employees are eligible for paid time off as outlined above. Based on their role, employees may also be eligible to receive long-term equity incentives and annual cash incentives.
